🚀 This Week’s Walmart Hack: x6 Walmart Deals Hacks

We all know how much Walmart loves one-upping Amazon in an attempt to draw customers and sellers away from its biggest e-commerce competitor. But why just settle for a one-up when you can go for a four-up instead?

In response to Amazon’s October Prime Day scheduled for October 7-8, Walmart is running its own Walmart+ sales event on those same days. But it’s also adding not one, not two, not three, but FOUR additional days to this event!

Running from Tuesday, October 7 through Sunday, October 12, the Walmart Deals sales event is delivering six full days of savings to its customers– and that’s six full days of golden opportunity for Walmart sellers. To celebrate SIX days of Walmart Deals, I’ve compiled a list of SIX hacks you can use to help you shoot for record-setting sales numbers next week!

1. Bump Up Targeted Ad Spend – Here’s an awesome hack that worked wonders on Amazon years ago and is now a big winner on the Walmart Marketplace. Increase your advertising budgets by 3-5x, and target sale-centered words like sale, deal, and discount. Many shoppers aren’t looking for anything specific; they just want to find a great deal! And this strategy will help them find yours.

Bonus Ad Tip: Don’t neglect video ads! Sellers are reporting ROIs similar to what they experienced with Amazon video ads five years ago. The competition is lower and the potential return is higher with these on Walmart!

2. Strike Through Pricing – Decreasing the price on your product by 10% or more will earn you strike-through pricing. This visually appealing representation of savings, coupled with the increased ad spend mentioned above, results in insane sales velocity!

3. Confirm Deal Approval – With so many eyes on Walmart and your products next week, every minute that a deal isn’t displaying properly is a valuable minute lost. Make sure to double-check that all of your approved deals have been green-lit for badge visibility and that no stone in your inventory is left unturned BEFORE October 7.

4. Create Virtual Bundles – Many of you are already taking advantage of virtual bundles, but if you haven’t started doing so or your inventory can use some refreshing, now is the time! If you’ve got two or more complementary products (think bar soap + bar soap holder), bundling these items together virtually can showcase more of your products and generate more sales.

5. Stay on Top of Emails – Answer all customer emails within 12 hours, but aim for an even smaller window than this. Limited-time sales events like this create a sense of urgency, and matching that urgency with quick responses to questions and concerns will allow you to close deals and establish yourself as a trustworthy brand.

6. AB Test Hero Images – Not sure which hero image is best? With all this extra traffic pouring onto the site, now’s the time to find out! Consider trying some basic AB testing on your top SKUs, trying out one featured image on Tuesday and another on Wednesday. Does one perform markedly better than the other? If so, you can use that one for the remaining deal days and enjoy the boost in conversions for the rest of the fourth quarter, as well.

October 7 is coming up fast, but we’ve still got time. Let’s get prepared and get EXCITED!

🔥 Hot Walmart Seller News: ChatGPT Is Now 20% of All Walmart Referral Traffic

Talk about an insane stat! I wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow to learn that 2.0% of all Walmart referral traffic was coming from ChatGPT. But no matter how hard I squinted my eyes the first time I read this report, there was no decimal there– ChatGPT is now 20% of Walmart’s referral traffic.

What word comes to mind when you see this number? Fascinating? Crazy? Troubling? Maybe all of the above. But here’s another opportunity.

If 20% of Walmart referrals are already coming from ChatGPT, is a future of 50% or more so impossible to imagine? As opposed to waiting around to find out, we need to start optimizing for AI now. That means:

  • Fully Optimized Product Listings – Listings that include beautiful creatives, in-depth information, and answers to common questions were already valuable to attract potential buyers. With AI pulling from these listings, the value and importance of optimization are even higher.

  • Brand Mentions – ChatGPT crawls the web for product mentions, ranging from Top 10 lists on websites like Men’s Health and Wirecutter to posts on Reddit. If you aren’t already name-dropping your brand on Reddit and exploring your niche for potential coverage opportunities, you may be missing out on some valuable funnels.

Spending an afternoon browsing Reddit for threads I can organically mention my product or brand in isn’t my idea of a good time. But alas, I don’t make the rules! ChatGPT and other AI tools continue to become more and more commonplace each day, and us business-minded folks need to think of how we can use that to our advantage instead of trying to fight it.

Organic search is dying a slow death. Adapt or die.
