🚀 This Week’s Walmart Hack: Leverage Flash Deals to Boost Your Rank

 As Baseball Hall-of-Famer Yogi Berra once said, “It’s like déjà vu all over again.”

The more time you spend selling on Walmart Marketplace, the more examples you discover of Walmart’s versions of popular Amazon services and features. And in many cases, the Walmart version is as good or BETTER than Amazon’s!

That is once again the case when it comes to Flash Deals, Walmart’s answer to Amazon’s Lightning Deals. The goal of offering discounts on popular products with Flash Deals isn’t about maximizing short-term profits, but instead about driving long-term sales and growth with the following perks:

  • Boost Rankings – More Sales = Higher Rankings. Showing up higher on the page in search results and product recommendations leads to more organic sales in the long run.

  • Collect Reviews – More Sales = Higher Rankings = More Reviews. This can really get the sales snowball rolling, as collecting more reviews will lead to higher customer confidence and conversion rates.

  • Drive Brand Awareness – And speaking of customer confidence, what better way is there to attract the attention of a new potential customer for life than with a great deal?   • Walmart’s average monthly traffic is up to 430 million visits

  • There are now 200,000+ Walmart Marketplace sellers (up 30% from last year)

  • This includes over 20,000 international sellers (mostly from China, Canada, and the United Kingdom)

  • Walmart currently offers over 420 million products, with 95% of those from Marketplace sellers

  • Home & Kitchen, Health & Personal Care, Electronics, Apparel, and Pet Supplies are the five categories that have seen the highest third-party growth over the last year

I opened this newsletter with a Yogi Berra quote, and I’ll wrap it up with another one: “The future ain’t what it used to be.” A few years ago, it was hard to imagine anyone threatening Amazon’s dominance in the e-commerce world. Now, I think Walmart is on the right path to reach the same levels of success that Amazon has achieved.

And given how massive online shopping already is and the bright future for the industry seemingly ahead, there should be room for Walmart and Amazon to co-exist as superpowers. Has there ever been a more exciting time to sell on BOTH of these platforms?!?
