🚀 This Week’s Walmart Hack: Say No to Product Inserts
When it comes to generating product reviews and seller feedback on the Walmart Marketplace, I’ve got some good news and some bad news. I’ve always been a fan of getting the bad news out of the way first, so here it is: Product inserts and email correspondence with customers asking for reviews are NOT allowed on Walmart.
Many Amazon sellers include a product insert in all of their packages, inviting customers to leave feedback and to contact them with questions or concerns. Most feedback generation strategies also include a carefully crafted automated email with the same information.
These two things are not permitted on Walmart, and failure to comply with these rules can result in major penalties, including the full suspension of your account. In other words, these are not rules that you want to be bending or breaking!
So, how can we drive up the number of positive reviews on our products without these two tried and true methods? That’s where the good news comes in! Walmart makes it easy with these three tools:
The Review Accelerator Program – Walmart’s version of Amazon’s review program, Amazon Vine. Sellers utilizing the program select a target number of reviews between five and 20, along with an incentive amount of $5 to $25, OR 25% of the item price. Customers who have been invited to participate in the program will have the option to buy your product and receive your selected incentive amount as a credit towards a future purchase in exchange for an honest review.
Importing Reviews From Shopify – Using the Walmart Marketplace Review Syndication Program, sellers can share customer reviews that they have collected on their own website for the same item to Walmart. This powerful tool is perfect for brands that already have an established presence through their personal Shopify storefront.
Automated Review Requests – What’s better than low-effort programs that work? NO-effort ones! Sellers may not be allowed to send emails to customers requesting product reviews, but that doesn’t mean that those customers won’t be reached out to. Walmart automatically follows up on every sale with an automated review request, meaning you should see some reviews roll in with no additional effort at all required on your end.
Walmart is always taking feedback from its sellers and making adjustments to its policies, so maybe we’ll see product inserts get the green light in the future. But until that day comes, be sure to adjust your strategies to comply with Walmart’s rules and to take advantage of the resources listed above.
🔥 Hot Walmart Seller News: Walmart Ads Have Leveled Up!
When it comes to advertising on Walmart, the Onsite Display Ad is the cream of the crop. These beautiful banner ads stretch across the page on both desktop and mobile devices, giving brands the opportunity to stand out against the competition with a big and bold statement.
And moving forward, you’ll now have even more control over how and when you make that statement.
Walmart recently announced that sellers now have the option to schedule Onsite Display campaigns in advance. You’ve got the power to set custom start and end times to the hour, across multiple campaigns and ad groups.
This is an exciting development for brands that enjoy having complete control over their advertising strategy. Through analysis of previous sales data and some trial and error, an astute seller could hone in on how different targeted ads perform at different times, eventually mapping out a plan to maximize the return on their Walmart ad spend.
Walmart Marketplace sellers should also keep an eye out for items in their inventory that have been flagged for Rollback Badge eligibility. If you meet the requirements provided by Walmart, eligible items during your campaigns will be highlighted with this new badge, boosting visibility and potential sales by alerting customers to the value you are providing.
Combine these two new advertising features, and you could be timing your rollback campaigns. Now if only we could figure out a way to rollback time as well. Can you believe it’s the end of September already?!?
And you know what that means– the FOURTH QUARTER is here! Let’s goooooo!
