🚀 This Week’s Walmart Hack: Customer Demographic Data Is Here!
Even though Thanksgiving has passed, Walmart sellers still have plenty to be thankful for in December. The final month of the fourth quarter delivers a massive boost in traffic and sales numbers driven by the holiday season. And this year, in addition to generating revenue and profit for your business, these sales will also generate valuable customer demographic data!
When you visit the Analytics dashboard in your Walmart Seller Center and select Consumer Insights, you will be able to view and download three different types of reports:
Repeat Purchase: The products in your catalog that are driving repeat customers.
Market Basket: The products that are frequently purchased together with products in your catalog.
Demographic Insights: Customer insights categorized by demographic. This data is only available when a minimum of 100 customers have purchased a brand-registered item from your catalog.
While Walmart sellers have had access to the Repeat Purchase and Market Basket reports before, the Demographic Insights report was just recently rolled out, and it’s AWESOME! This report offers the following details on your customer base:
Household Income
Age
Gender
Education Level
Marital Status
And in addition to the raw statistics on how your customers fit into these demographics, you are also able to view a breakdown of the Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of each of these groups as well!
As I’ve talked about in this newsletter before, it’s always important to keep in mind that customers who shop on Walmart are NOT exactly the same as those who shop on Amazon. Sure, you’ll see some overlap in the demographics of your target audience based on the types of products that you sell. But with the information that this exciting new feature is providing, you’ll also be able to analyze the key differences between these two customer bases and adjust your Walmart strategies accordingly!
🔥 Hot Walmart Seller News: Walmart+ Badge Now Available For Seller-Fulfilled Items!
Experienced Amazon sellers know what a major impact having the coveted Prime badge can make on a product listing. As such, the rollout of Seller Fulfilled Prime in 2023 received overwhelmingly positive feedback, giving eligible sellers the chance to display that valuable Prime badge even on orders they were fulfilling themselves.
Walmart sellers have been clamoring for a similar feature to be added to the Walmart Marketplace– and now it has been!
Previously, the Walmart+ badge was only added to products sold through Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS), and no additional action was required for enrollment. Now sellers can also add the Walmart+ badge to items that they fulfill themselves:
Visit the Walmart+ page in Seller Center and select Auto Enroll to enroll all eligible items, or Manual Enroll to choose specific items.
The Walmart+ badge will be added to all items that meet the program requirements.
Enrolled items previously configured with paid shipping will be offered with free shipping for all Walmart+ members.
To be eligible for this new seller-fulfilled badge program, sellers must meet the following requirements:
Operate a business located in the U.S.
Fulfill badged items for free to Walmart+ members in three calendar days or less.
Maintain an On-Time Delivery (OTD) rate of 90% or better and a Seller Cancellation Rate under 2.5%.
Add this to the always-growing list of examples of Walmart emulating Amazon’s best features and listening to what its sellers want. And right in time for the home stretch here in December!
